Why impact doors
Six reasons Florida property owners upgrade.
200+ mph wind protection
Reinforced frames and laminated impact glass meet Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade NOA.
Forced-entry resistance
Multi-point locking systems and impact glass make these doors a serious deterrent year-round.
UV & heat blocking
Low-E coatings cut up to 99% of UV rays, protecting floors, furniture, and cooling bills.
Noise reduction
Multi-layer glass and weather-sealed frames dampen traffic, neighbor, and storm noise.
Insurance savings
Most homeowners qualify for windstorm credits — we provide the certification paperwork.
No shutters required
Permanent protection means no plywood or panels before every storm warning.

Impact door questions, answered.
What's the difference between impact doors and standard exterior doors?
+
Impact doors use a reinforced frame plus laminated impact glass — two sheets of glass bonded to a tough interlayer that holds together even when shattered. They're tested to withstand a 9-pound 2x4 hitting at 34 mph followed by 9,000 cycles of hurricane wind pressure. A standard exterior door has none of this and is not code-compliant in Florida HVHZ zones.
Can I get impact French or sliding doors that still look elegant?
+
Yes. We install PGT and Eastern Architectural impact French, sliding, and multi-slide systems in a full range of finishes, glass tints, internal grids, and hardware styles. Modern impact doors are visually indistinguishable from non-impact equivalents.
How much do hurricane impact doors cost?
+
Single fiberglass impact entry doors typically run $3,500–$7,000 installed. French and sliding patio systems run $5,000–$15,000+ depending on width and panel count. Multi-slide glass walls and commercial storefronts are quoted per opening — we provide a free itemized estimate within 48 hours.
Do impact doors qualify for insurance wind-mitigation credits?
+
Yes. When paired with impact windows, impact-rated exterior doors complete the wind-mitigation envelope required for the largest insurance credits — typically 20%–45% off the wind portion of your premium. We provide all OIR-B1-1802 certification paperwork.
How long does impact door installation take?
+
Most single entry or French door swaps take one day. Large sliding or multi-slide systems take 1–2 days. Lead times from order to install typically run 4–8 weeks because every door is custom-built to your rough opening.
Do you install commercial storefront doors?
+
Yes. We install code-rated aluminum storefront entries with panic hardware, closers, and ADA-compliant thresholds for retail, restaurant, office, and medical buildings throughout Lee and Collier counties.
